If you are the proud parent of a wrinkly breed—like an English Bulldog, Frenchie, Pug, or Shar-Pei—you know that their adorable rolls require special attention. Skin folds and tail pockets are dark, warm environments that easily trap moisture, food, dirt, and tears, leading to redness, irritation, and that infamous "stinky face" smell.
💡 Recommended Routine Kit:
Our Bulldog Wrinkle Cleansing Wipes is specifically designed to tackle this problem, providing a complete routine that cleans deep into folds.
Step 1: Clean Deeply but Gently
The first step is removing the buildup of dirt, tears, and moisture. Take one of our Wrinkle Skinfold Care Wipes and gently unfold it.
- Facial Folds: Carefully lift the wrinkle and wipe inside. Use a fresh section of the wipe for each side of the face to avoid spreading any debris.
- Tail Pockets: Gently wipe around and inside the tail pocket area to remove trapped dirt and neutralize odors.
Pro Tip: Our wipes are 100% unscented, which is crucial because dogs hate strong smells right next to their noses. They are also enriched with Manuka Honey and CocoPlex to start soothing the skin immediately.
Step 2: Protect Against Friction
Cleaning alone isn't enough. When skin rubs against skin, it creates friction that causes redness and irritation. Once the fold is clean and dry, you need to apply a protective barrier.
Take your Skin Soothing Balm, twist it up, and glide it directly inside the clean skin fold or tail pocket. The Beeswax and CocoPlex in the balm will create a gentle, breathable shield that prevents moisture buildup and stops the skin from rubbing together.
How Often Should I Clean Wrinkles?
For most wrinkly breeds, facial folds should be cleaned at least once a day, preferably after meals. Tail pockets should be checked and cleaned every few days, or more frequently if your pet is prone to irritation.
If you notice the skin inside the folds is bright red, oozing, or causing your pet severe discomfort, please consult your veterinarian, as this may require medical attention.
